Apply for student accommodation
LU Accommodation has two application periods per year; Spring and Autumn. Read more to learn how to apply.
How do you apply?
During an application period, you can apply for housing by registering an account, joining the queue, and applying for available accommodations. For a detailed description of the process, please read our tutorial:
1. Register account
Eligible students need to activate their housing account before making an application. It is important to activate the account before the start of the application period to maximize the chances of receiving housing. The process for activating the account differs between different student types, please read on below to learn more.
Fee-paying International programme students receive a Student ID account login, used to pay the tuition fee. This same login is used to log in to LU Accommodation's Housing Account, and activate a housing account.
Please note! Your Student LU Account has a linked e-mail address, and all communication from LU Accommodation will be primarily to this e-mail address, unless otherwise specified.
If you are a programme student but do not pay tuition to Lund University, then you are unfortunately not eligible for housing with us.

Students in exchange programmes or agreements have an application in the SoleMOVE exchange application system. They can use their SoleMOVE application number and the email they registered in SoleMOVE to activate a housing account for the first time.
Creating an account with us (Exchange student)
Any subsequent log in is done through the normal housing account page using email as login.

Before the start of the study semester, all exchange students receive a Student ID login account. LU Accommodation will inform all applicants and tenants when the can start using that login. Please keep using the email login until told to switch to using your student account.
Other agreements with the university
If you are here on an agreement with Lund University that is not described in the categories above, then you are most likely falling into this category. This includes students in Double Degrees or Joint Programmes, or with certain scholarships. If you are not in Ladok or SoleMOVE by the start of the application period, LU Accommodation will create your account manually.
LU Accommodation receives regular updates from the university's coordinators, and aims to register and send a link to create a password to all such students, at least one week before the application period starts. Please contact us via email if you have not received information about logging in.
Non-agreement students
If you are not here as a tuition-paying programme student, exchange student or other agreement student, then you are most likely not eligible for housing with us. If you are still unsure, you can send an email to us and we will try to answer whether you are eligible. Please give as much information about what you are doing at LU for us to answer the question adequately.
PhD-Students
If you are a PhD-student, you are eligible for housing. As both a student and a researcher, you may be eligible for either Student or Researcher housing. Please contact us via e-mail, and we will assist you in creating a housing account.
2. Join the queue
When the queue opens, you will have to press the "Join queue" button in the "Housing" menu item in your housing account. It is important to apply as early as possible. All applicants who apply in the first 24 hours of the queue opening get a randomized application time, to ensure a fair chance for those applying early, regardless of timezone. Your relative position in the housing queue will be determined by two factors; your priority student group, and the date and time you joined the queue (the earlier the better). There are three different priority groups; regular, prioritized and guaranteed.

3. Apply for available housing
Once you have joined the housing queue, you can apply for any available accommodations. Vacant rooms will be announced in batches, that are open for application for a limited period of time. You need to choose any housing option you are interested in, and rank them in order of preference.
Please note that if you do not put a specific housing option in your ranked list, you will not receive an offer for that type of housing, even if there are no other options left available. We therefore recommend all applicants to choose as many options as possible, to maximize your chances of receiving an offer.

Applying outside the application periods
If you miss (or otherwise apply outside of) the application periods, you need to contact LU Accommodation via e-mail, and we will assist you in creating an account, if you are eligible to apply for housing. You can then join the housing queue and keep updated on when new batches will be released (as announced on this website and the account), but you will always have lower priority than applicants who applied during the application period.
